Updates

This week a combination of 164 new hardware devices, new browsers and new operating system versions have been added to the device detection database.

This week the Samsung Galaxy J has been added to the detection database. Currently available in Japan and Taiwan, the Galaxy J is similar to the Galaxy S4 in terms of hardware, the most striking difference is the metal clad bodywork. The metal body follows hot on the heels of other metal housed devices such as the HTC One and the iPhone 5s, the metalwork on the Galaxy J is considered by some to be testing the water for the upcoming Galaxy S5 which is also rumoured to have a metal body.

The Galaxy J's is equipped with a 5" 1080p Super AMOLED display fitted with Corning's Gorilla Glass 3 for protection. Using Qualcomm's Snapdragon 800 chipset which includes a quad core Krait 400 cpu running at 2.3GHz and an Adreno 330 GPU. Other specifications include 3GB RAM, 2600mAh battery, 13MP camera, NFC, Infrared blaster and LTE capabilities.

It is currently unknown if the Galaxy J will make an appearance outside Asia, what we do know for sure is that we have seen a recent increase in it's global traffic share.

We recently also spotted a new Sony mobile device in the wild going by the model number D6503. The D6503 is codenamed 'Sirius' and rumored to be an upgraded version of the popular Sony Xperia Z1 flagship, taking on the moniker Xperia Z2. As is usual with upcoming flagships there have been several information leaks already, mostly revolving around the D6503's camera.

The D6503 looks similarly sized to the Xperia Z1 but readers have noted it has smaller bezels, giving rise to the notion that it will have a 5.2" screen, .2" larger than it's predecessor. Pictures indicate a duel speaker setup and potentially a triple microphone like Nokia's Lumia 1020. Other specification rumors include a 3300mAh battery, 3GB RAM and a faster variant of the Snapdragon 800 chipset than seen on the Z1. The device is expected to launch with Android 4.4, commonly known as Kitkat.

This week also brings us the addition of the Kyocera Dingo M, LG's G Pro Lite and Alcatel's One Touch Tab8HD, among many more.
