On Device Research is a mobile market research specialist with survey technology that works on any internet connected device. Their experience, technology, and ability to reach mobile audiences anywhere on the planet enables clients to deliver research projects with speed and at cost not previously possible.
Of importance is an ability to support mobile devices not only popular in developed countries, but also those found in emerging and growth markets. To date, over 15 million surveys across 62 countries have been successfully completed.
On Device Research conducts tens of thousands of surveys a day. They need to be able to understand the type of device that is being used to complete the surveys in order to optimise the layout and flow of each survey in order to maximise both accuracy and completion rates. Further understanding of each user device also provides much needed additional information about the respondents to survey clients.
The performance and commercial model of previous solutions were not compatible with the rapid expansion of On Device Research. This lead to a review of the device detection market landscape and four factors became the key components in the search for a new solution. These included:
- A device database containing consistent data about devices popular in both developed and emerging countries.
- Easy deployment into a Java environment.
- Exceptional matching performance and accuracy.
- A commercial model that supports On Device Research’s growth goals.
51Degrees was extremely easy to integrate into our Java environment making migration simple. The commercial model was both easy to understand and implement. It really was a no brainer for us. Tim CleminsonCTO and Co-Founder, On Device Research
51Degrees Java API and locally stored data set are deployed into the front end web servers and used to optimise and analyse all traffic. Detection results are stored in relevant logs and database records for future analysis and optimisations.
51Degrees’ solution crucially gives us the ability to optimise surveys for each and every device, and use the device data for some very clever survey routing and analysis. This is an important value add to what we can offer to our clients. Siim TellerHead of Marketing, On Device Research
